PomBioTech - Experts in drug metabolite production

PomBioTech has specialized on the production of drug metabolites synthesized by human cytochromes P450 and human UDP-glucuronosyltransferases (UGT). Using recombinant fission yeast strains (Schizosaccharomyces pombe) we are able to biotechnologically produce custom made metabolites including cytochrome P450 and UGT metabolites (glucuronides) up to technical scale (mg to 100 g range). In addition to this we offer a variety of glucuronides and cytochrome P450 metabolites for use as reference standards (e.g. for LC/MS and LC/MS-MS). All reference standards can also be labeled with either deuterium or 13C.

Besides the production of metabolites our CRO activities include the generation of custom made fission yeast strains that are specifically tailored to meet the need of our clients. When dealing with proteins that are difficult to express functionally in microbes (e.g. E. coli) or other yeasts fission yeast has in many instances turned out to be a suited model system in our hands.
In addition to these CRO activities, PomBioTech has a dedicated in-house R&D department which focuses on the development of new technology platforms.
